Walt Disney World For Adults in Winter

If Walt Disney World For Adults in Winter is something you are thinking about, then I have the plan for you! Sometimes you need to get away without the kids to a place to relive your childhood dreams. Disney is that place. Here is a travel plan to help you on your way.

Download the Disney MyExperience app. Purchase park tickets. Make hotel, dining and park reservations linked to your tickets as needed. Check in to your reservations.

Fly to Orlando
Take Magic Express to Hotel (B side of the main terminal, 1st floor under baggage claim) To board you will need a Magic Band or a Magic Express pass or just a confirmation number

Or drive and skip all that.

Check in through the app as needed. Use your magic band or get a key/ park/ shopping card at check in desk. Check in to your room (We chose Disney’s Yacht Club). Dine at your reservation place of choice (We chose Ale & Compass which we recommend).

Check out your pool closing times. Bonfire? Lazy River? Hot tub? If needed, set an alarm for 6:55AM to get in the Rise of Resistance Virtual Queue starting at 7AM on the dot.

Visit the Boardwalk…. (check each venue if open first!!)
Jelly Rolls a dueling pianos experience.
Classic sing-along and good times await guests at the hottest dueling piano bar on the waterfront, featuring non-stop live entertainment in a rowdy, warehouse atmosphere.
21 and over. $10 cover, bar. BoardWalk Buskers are on the Boardwalk- See the fun, the wacky, the bizarre, the just plain weird, when you catch the traveling Buskers. Atlantic Dance Hall -Guests can dance the night away to the sounds of a variety of music at Atlantic Dance, located surfside right on the boardwalk. The spacious hall offers a sophisticated ambiance with a palette of rich blues, maroons and golds surrounding a parquet dance floor, and sparkling gold stars and twinkling lights adorn the ceiling. DJ’s playing the hottest mix of top hits from the 70’s through today. 21 and over. No Cover. In addition there’s: Caricature Artist, Hair wrappers, Surrey bike rental, Carnival games

In the morning eat a quick breakfast, or wait and eat in the park. Take Dramamine if you get motion sick (like me). Take the bus to Animal Kingdom 7:15 go, opens at 8 (although the park opened an hour earlier than advertised when we went).

Our park plan was to mainly do the newer rides that we have never experienced since we have been to Disney a lot. We made dining reservations through the app while at the park.

Arrive at Animal Kingdom
Pandora World of Avatar- Avatar Flight of Passage (We got here early and headed here first, so our wait time was drastically reduced. This ride made me motion sick. I learned to take more Dramamine after this. Despite that, this is an amazing ride akin to Soarin.)
Kilamanjari Safari (We did this one second because we heard that the animals are more active and out and about in the early morning. It was true.)
Expedition Everest (Very short line because it was still early)
Maharajah Jungle Trek (This is a nice walk through a zoo-like area)
Navi River Journey (By this time the line was very long. I would have skipped this.) Watch UP! A Great Bird Adventure (We weren’t going to do this and then we did and we were really glad we did!)
Dinosaur if time (We chose to do some in-park dining at Tiffins instead of this. We weren’t disappointed! Everything was delicious!)

Arrive at Magic Kingdom
We had a short trip so we had to do two parks in one day. Park hopping was recently reinstated. Currently, they do not let you in before 2PM to park hop. So it doesn’t help to go early, but leave in time to arrive at 2PM. Park Hop to Magic Kingdom by taking a bus at 1:30PM.

Adventureland- Jungle Cruise Frontier Land- Big Thunder Mountain Tomorrowland- Space Mountain Fantasyland- Seven Dwarfs Mine Train (This is a new ride and the song made it memorable!)
If extra time- Liberty Square – Haunted Mansion (We did get to this), Adventure Land- Pirates of Caribean, Small World, Peter Pan’s Flight (We chose to eat at the Jungle Navigation Co. Skipper Canteen instead of those last rides. Everything was amazing of course, including all of the waiter’s jokes!)

Take a boat to Polynesian Resort at 8PM
Watch the Electric Water Pageant from the beach area at Disney’s Polynesian Resort. You can pick up a Dole Whip (pineapple-flavored frozen soft-serve dessert) in Captain Cook’s, the resort’s food court, to take out and enjoy while you watch. Polynesian at 8:45pm, Grand Floridian at 9:00pm Walk to the Ticket and Transportation Center and then take a bus to Disney’s Yacht Club Resort. (This was our plan but we skipped it because it was too cold. Make sure you check the weather right before you go and dress appropriately!)

Wake at 6:55AM to get in the virtual queue right exactly at 7AM for Rise of The Resistance in the MyDisney Experience app. We logged in right at 7AM and found we were in group 47 before it even turned 7:01AM. So be on time and click through quickly.

We were able to walk the 15 minutes to Hollywood Studios from our hotel by taking the secret back path that links Epcot and Hollywood Studios. Again, the park opened an hour before it was advertised.

Star Tours (I opted out of this one due to motion sickness and I’m glad I did. Very short line.) Muppet Vision 3D (There was no line because we arrived early) Walk around Star Wars land in awe and wonder!!
Millennium Falcon Smugglers Run (Fly through space! We had some trouble finding this one and by the time we did the line had gotten to an hour. You might want to head here first and then back track).
Buy green or blue milk. It tastes way better than it looks!
Star Wars Rise of Resistance (if you got in then you get the experience of a lifetime with this ride!)
Mickeys and Minnies Runaway Railway (This line was about an hour. This is a new ride with upgraded technology. You get to enter in through a recreation of California’s Hollywood Chinese Theater. Don’t miss this one!)
Slinky Dog Dash (We left before riding this new ride)

Head to Epcot
1:30 Park hop to Epcot. Take the Skyliner to the Caribbean hotel get off and transfer to the skyliner to Epcot. There were no lines for the Skyliner in the middle of the day, whereas the lines at opening and closing are really long. )

American Adventure
Norway Frozen Ever After (This was an updated ride with great music and effects)
Mexico- Gran Fiesta Tour
America Gardens Theater shows
Spaceship Earth
Soarin (Even though I have done this before, this was my favorite ride of the trip!)
Back to World Showcase
UK
Impressions de France, Tale as old as time
Morocco (Eat at Spice Road, Reagle Eagle)
Japan- Matsurija
Italy- Sergio (Via Napoli has the best pizza)
Germany
China

It was fun to walk through the Epcot countries when everything was closing up, and so sad to leave!
