It is time to take a day trip to Yellow Springs, and Springfield, Ohio! Many people know Yellow Springs as the cool, artsy town where Dave Chappelle lives, but many may not know that nearby Springfield, Ohio has a lot to offer as well.
Check the following off your bucket list. You won’t be sorry!
-Savor Italian pastries at Lei Torte Dolci in Springfield, OH Tues-Fri 8AM–5PM Sat 8AM–1P
-Be amazed at the handmade Hartman Rock Garden in Springfield, OH Mon- Sun 8AM–8PM
-Become more cultured at the beautiful Springfield Museum of Art Wed-Sat 9AM–5PM Sun 12:30–4:30PM
-Learn about history at the Heritage Center of Clark County in Springfield, OH Tues- Fri 9AM–4P Sat 9AM–3PM
-Take in genius at Frank Lloyd Wright’s Westcott House (Currently must make an appointment and buy tickets online before you can tour) Tues- Sat 11AM–5PM Sun 1–5PM
-Explore the recreated Indian Village at George Rogers Clark Park and the trail to see the falls
-Visit the colorful town of Yellow Springs and browse the great boutique and craft shops including the Epic Book Shop, Miami Valley Pottery and the Yellow Springs Toy Company. We ate dinner at the beyond delicious Sunrise Cafe, but HaHa Pizza and The Winds Cafe are also recommended. For dessert we got homemade icecream at Young’s Jersey Dairy. This place also has mini golf, a petting zoo, batting cages and more!
Last, but not least…
Don’t forget about visiting The Pittsburgh-Cincinnati Stagecoach Trail and the restaurant it leads to (Clifton Gorge State Nature Preserve). No dogs allowed on this trail.
-Look for future post(s) when I take my dogs and hike other trails around this area- including Buck Creek State Park, Mad River Gorge & Nature Preserve, Indian Mound Reserve, Glen Helen Nature Preserve, John Bryan State Park, and Cedar Bog Nature Preserve.
Yellow Springs and Springfield, Ohio make an amazing day trip and are totally worth adding to your bucket list!
